# 4 Technology in Education: Good or Bad?

The Negative Impact of Technology in Education

https://www.assignmentexpert.com/blog/negative-impact-of-technology-on-learning/

This article states that there is a negative impact on education and technology and education. It says that students are very reliant on the internet and technology so much that the need for teacher student interaction is not needed. Students are beginning to have very little contact with instructors and even instructors having very little contact with students. By getting an education on line, students are required my teachers to submit via email or some form of online schooling such as canvas or blackboard. The article also points out that by having all class resources online such as assignments and books, there is no reason to go to class. Human interact is very important and we lose that when we include technology in every aspect of life.

By using a computer, students were limited in using their own imagination and ideas when needed. They relied on the internet to much to for their own visual images and thoughts. The internet also discourages students from truly learning the material for good and not just for the test. With the answer always 5 seconds away from a google search, there is no reason for students to commit the information to memory. In closing, the article said that the technology and internet has changed the relationships of social aspect in children, especially boys and girls around the ages of 12 and 13. This causes the education process to adapt and change as well.

# 3 Technology and education: good or bad?

There are many studies that have be done regarding technology and education, some being good and some being bad.

Five positive effects of technology on education
http://smallbusiness.chron.com/five-positive-effects-technology-education-31222.html
The article that I chose for the positive outlook on technology and education had good points to why it was a good thing. They gave 5 points and an explanation along with each point. The first point was research and they said having the internet gives students an unlimited library that is up to date, unlike a school library that may be up to date or not. They are able to get any type of information needed from digital textbooks and papers. They also pointed out globalization. Students were able to to meet and connect with people and information from all over the world. This gives students an opportunity to see different view points from different culture thoughts and ideas on common topics. They point out the educational games that are widely found on the internet. This allows students to study and learn information in a fun and interactive way. This is very prominent in younger students but not limited to older students. It also allows students to take education courses from multiple places around the world. This also deals with web seminars as well. This allows students to learn from all over the world.

My views of technology on education
I believe that education has become increasingly easier with the help of technology. Anything I do not know is a click away, which is not necessarily a bad thing. By having access to the right answer to a problem or issue, I have a better chance to succeed. I do believe that the internet has decreased the level of relationships we form with professors. Professors would rather you email them than show up in person. It is more convenient for them and us, but you cannot see emotion though an email. You also do not get that one on one experience where the professor shows that he or she cares that you do good. All in all, I believe that technology or a great thing, but can be a hindrance also. I lean more to the positive than the negative because we have to adapt to the times we are in now. Technology is everywhere around us and if we choose not to use it, we deprive ourselves of greater experiences.

#2 Why I do or don't wanna be a teacher.

I do not want to just teach because I think I can make the biggest difference in a person's life through sports. Sports were my outlet and that is how I connect best with people because it is what I relate to the most. I want to coach basketball more than anything, so teaching comes along with it. With that being said, I want to teach something that I could see changes being made in the students. Nutrition is something that most children are not taught at a young age even though it is a very important aspect of life. By teaching children at an early age to eat healthy and vegetables are yummy, it becomes easier for them as an adult to make the right choices. It teaches children discipline that they can use for the rest of their life in all the different parts of their life. Teaching someone a skill they can use for the rest of their life gives me comfort in my decision to teach and coach.

Intro #1

My name is Lindsey Walker and I am from Crystal Springs, MS. I am a Junior at the University of Southern Mississippi. I am majoring in Sports Coaching Education with a minor in Nutrition and Dietetics. I want to be a basketball coach and teach elementary and high school kids about nutrition. I do not think that nutrition is taught in schools as it should be and I  would love to be the person to teach them! My hobbies are hanging out with my sorority and playing intramurals! :)))
