10 Big Ideas for Technology Integration
Johnathan Wally wrote a presentation on technology integration. This article is made up of a summary and high points of Wally's 55 minute presentation. There are 10 big points that are stated in this article.
- technology is integrated well when it is used as a too to enhance learning.
- technology is integrated well when instruction is modified to meet the need of the digital age learner.
- technology is integrated well when you are willing to take risks and fail.
- technology is integrated well when yo know when not to use it.
- technology is integrated well when students are using the 4C's as part of their learning.
- technology is integrated well when it helps to personalize instruction & learning.
- technology is integrated well when it is supported by effective professional learning.
- technology is integrated well when teachers and technology directors work together.
- technology is integrated will when there is support from all stakeholders.
- technology is integrated well when it is supported by a good digital citizenship program.
I agree with all these statements and think they are all very important. Technology should be used to enhance learning, not take away from it. I did not know what the 4C's were until now, but they are also very important. If you, as a teacher, can get the creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration to increase or get better in any way, the technology is serving its purpose. I do think, however, that teachers should use their imagination a little bit more when regarding technology because some activities could be made so much better.
